ABOUT US

Our Commitment to Champions for Life

Sedro-Woolley SteelClaw Wrestling is a youth wrestling organization dedicated to developing athletes both on and off the mat. Serving wrestlers ages 5 & up, our program provides a positive, welcoming, and family-oriented environment where young athletes can learn the sport of wrestling, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills.

We believe wrestling is about more than wins and losses. Our coaches focus on teaching discipline, hard work, respect, accountability, sportsmanship, and perseverance while helping each athlete reach their individual potential. Whether a wrestler is stepping onto the mat for the first time or competing at the highest levels, we strive to provide the support, training, and encouragement they need to succeed.

Our club is committed to creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere where athletes can grow as competitors, teammates, and leaders. Through practices, tournaments, community involvement, and team activities, we foster a strong sense of family and belonging that extends beyond the wrestling season.

SteelClaw proudly serves our local wrestling community and works to ensure every child has the opportunity to participate regardless of financial circumstances. Through fundraising efforts, sponsorships, and community support, we help provide scholarships, travel opportunities, and resources that allow our athletes to pursue their goals.

We aren't just building wrestlers—we're building character, confidence, and champions for life.

    Andrew Goedl

    Head Coach

If you don’t know me, I’m Andrew Goedl. I have wrestled for 28 years on and off. I was a part of Steelclaw when I was 6,7, 15,16. I wrestled for Sedro-Woolley High School, placing 5th at state my senior year. After High-School I joined the U.S. Marines. I was fortunate enough to be selected to the All-Marine Wrestling team in 2006, where I competed daily with All-Americans in Greco-Roman wrestling. After my time in the Marine Corps, I joined the U.S. Army. While in the Army I won the Fort Bragg wrestling tournament (which was a base of about 100,000 people). I won the Fort Bragg combatives tournament (mixed martial arts). I was able to become certified in the highest level of Army Combatives which includes training in Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Boxing, Kick Boxing, Muay Thai and wrestling techniques. I earned a spot on the Fort Bragg Combatives team and trained exclusively in mixed martial arts for 4 months. I relocated to Alaska where I represented Ft. Wainwright in the USARAK combatives tournament, winning the all-services contest held in Alaska. After my time in the Army I then went to Western Washington University where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology.
I hope to instill discipline, a good work ethic, passion for the sport, good sportsmanship, a sense of belonging to a team, and nurture our children into being good people. I will need all of your help in my endeavor to make this happen. I look forward to the challenge and to meeting you all this summer/fall. Have a wonderful summer and get ready for competition.

    Kabe Fluaitt

    Head Coach

    I’m Kabe Fluaitt.
Here is a little background of myself. I wrestled for 17 consecutive years the age of 6 to 23 for multiple programs and multiple states. I won many youth state tournaments in folk style, freestyle and Greco-Roman.
In 2010 a few highlights of my season was taking 3rd at NIC tri state tournament.
I took first in high school 4a heavyweight freestyle and Greco. I took third in Greco-Roman and I took fourth if freestyle on the dual team. Then I went to Fargo taking 5th place in freestyle.
In 2011 my senior year I was able to pin my way through most of my season going 31 and two with 29 pins. I won NIC tri state highschool state. I took 3rd at Reno worlds. My team took 5th in freestyle and 6th in Greco as Team Washington Dual teams. Then I went to Fargo again and took 6th in Greco.
After high school I took a red shirt year at NIC. I didn’t compete much due to running out of money and ended up going home. I worked while I took a few years off, I assisted Moses Lake, Matt Rat, as a Pee-wee coach for two seasons.
After coaching, I earned another scholarship to the University of Great Falls. While at UGF I took third at the cowboy open in Wyoming. After that, I decided to return home and no longer compete.

My goals for our steelclaw wrestlers are very individual but as a team, I feel that we should focus on perfecting the basics and fostering a positive family environment. Wrestling is hard enough we don’t need to make it harder. We have the kids in the room to become state champs.
We need to reinforce what they already know and convince them they can do it! I will consider our season successful and want to get better.

This will be my 8th year coaching for Steelclaw and tenth year coaching, overall. I grew up in Bakersfield, California and wrestled for North High School. After high school I coached for the North High Youth Program and then started the wrestling program at Standard Middle School where I was also the head coach for two years. I coached one year for Steelclaw in 2006 and joined again when my son, Cameron, was in first grade and wanted to try wrestling.

I love teaching kids new skills and watching them put those skills to use on the mat and the pride they have when they see their hard work pay off.
I’ve been married to my wife, Lisa, for 20 years and we have two kids. Outside of coaching I enjoy BMX racing, waterskiing, fishing and road trips as a family.

    Shaun Mannon

    Assistant Coach

My love for wrestling really took off after my daughter got out on the mat two years ago. I look forward to assisting the other coaches. However, im more here to help the kids fall in love with the sport, like our coaches have in the past, with Steelclaw. Watching the kids' eyes light up when they learn a move for the 1st time and using the move the 1st time themselves is the most rewarding moment ever for a coach like me. I'm here to make sure they have a fun time learning the sport.
